HCOM 346 African American Life/History
|
African American History taught me a different perspective than what many other high school history classes teach you about the African American community. In this class for the first time I knew African history from its beginning, starting from the creation of the kingdoms like Mali. Also it's great feats, culture and wealth long before its cruel slavery to Europe and the Americas. Afterwards, his arrival in this country, and the cruelty with which they were treated. Their attempts of rebellion against their owners and years later their liberation after the civil war. At last, their challenges in trying to be part of the white community when racism was against them. Using all these topics, I wrote an analysis explaining in detail each one of those events. Finally I made a presentation based on a book called ‘Their Eyes were Watching God’ by Zora Neale Hurston. This book was very special to me since it not only explained the life of the African-American community in its first years of freedom but also counted the discrimination that women lived behave man It was definitely a very productive class and I would love to take a second part of it again.
