Integrative Narrative
- My name is Angelica Gonzalez. I currently living in Soledad, California. At this moment I am studying my last semester at California State University, Monterey Bay. My goal is to obtain a degree in the Spanish Language and Hispanic culture. My ultimate goal is to achieve a credentials to teach since my dream is to be a Spanish teacher focused in Spanish literature for high school students. I am the first person in my family to have this great opportunity to attend college. Since I came to this country at the age of 16, I have made an effort to maintain my goal. First I graduated from high school, and after community college. My path has not been easy since learning a second language is difficult, but somehow it is something satisfying when it is achieved. My life as a student is at times difficult, but I love challenges just like when I was learning the English language. Up to this point in my life I am content with my college experience because every experience has helped me learn. I believe that my education will help me obtain a good job and more importantly it will allow me to confront society with intelligence and wisdom.
- Being part of the CSUMB Spanish department not has it only opened me the door to explore my own culture, but also I have had the opportunity to cooperate with people from other countries. I realised that not just our language make us family, but our history and traditions do too. My literature, culture, and linguistic classes have made me see that our Latin culture is very rich in knowledge. That every aspect of it is unique and special. Also CSUMB throughout its Service Learning requirement it introduced me to the teaching world. Thanks to this class I had the great experience to work as a tutor with High Students whom were just barley learning English like I was at their age. This opportunity taught me that teaching is my true vocation, and reinforce the decision to want to be a Spanish teacher for high school students
